About the event

The combined 150 years of musical entertainment experience pent up in this band comes alive with every performance. Their camaraderie and the fun they have is palpable and contagious.  The fine song-writing skills of Sid Beam and John Donoghue are brought to life in a unique, classic, and yet sophisticated Hog style by this masterful band of vintage musicians:

  • John Donoghue brings unique yammer, original songs and instruments, domestic décor and more to the band along with a vanload of paraphernalia including a mandolin, guitar, banjo-uke, harmonicas, kick drum. higher than a kite high-hat, washboard, and the world’s only Pandemonium.
  • Sid Beam (of Gumbo, Magpie and Vanilla Syncopators fame) brings his outlandish song-writing and virtuosic guitar playing abilities to kick the band into some new orbit with every performance.
  • Our Bass Hog, John Simonds, brings his decades of steady-drivin’ dog-house bass playing and his very-velvet vocals to keep the band grounded in its groove.
  • Hershel Olmsted, our Boss Hog and former member of the Luckiamute String Band will be with us in spirit but unfortunately is off in the Louisiana swamps for this performance playing musical saw with countless Cajun bands.

In addition, John D. will bring his Moving Panorama Crankies and some marionettes to add old-school theatrical flair to the evening.  This timeless story-telling artform is sure to delight and compel all those with beating hearts and active imaginations.  Seeing (and hearing) is believing.

Come out and join The Hogs for some fun!
